Spent Thanksgiving in Florida with my mom and the racist, xenophobic, FOX NEWS watching, senior citizen asshole she’s married to. It’s funny how he had plenty to say about the Muslims (you can’t trust them!) and “Black Friday” (what about a WHITE Friday?)—but when this Planned Parenthood shooting was on the news, what did he have to say...?

The great screenwriter Melissa Mathison has a posse.

E.T. made me want to pursue the arts as a child. Everyone will remember her for that film, but I highly recommend her first produced feature: an adaptation she co-wrote, a forgotten gem called "THE BLACK STALLION".

She excelled at depicting the wonder and terror of a child's worldview.

She didn't get too many films produced. She's got one more that will come out posthumously, directed by her old collaborator Steven Spielberg. I hope he does right by her work.
